Brevibloc


Pronunciation: ES-moe-lol
Generic Name: Esmolol
Brand Name: Brevibloc


Brevibloc is used for:

Temporary control of heart rate and blood pressure. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.


Brevibloc is a beta-blocker. It works by reducing the workload on the heart and helping the heart beat more regularly by affecting certain nerve impulses in the body.


Do NOT use Brevibloc if:


  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Brevibloc

  • you have a history of heart block, heart shock, a very slow heartbeat with or without a recent history of heart attack, or you have a history of asthma

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.



Before using Brevibloc:


Some medical conditions may interact with Brevibloc. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:


  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding

  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement

  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

  • if you have heart disease, heart failure, blood flow problems, kidney problems, breathing problems (eg, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder [COPD]), diabetes, bronchitis, or low blood sugar

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Brevibloc. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:


  • Indomethacin because the effectiveness of Brevibloc may be decreased

  • Ketanserin, mibefradil, quinazolines (eg, imatinib), or verapamil because the risk of side effects such as extremely low blood pressure may be increased

  • Clonidine, lidocaine, or mefloquine because the actions and side effects of these medicines may be increased

How to use Brevibloc:

  • Brevibloc is usually administered as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. Ask your doctor or pharmacist any questions that you have about Brevibloc.

Important safety information:


  • Brevibloc may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Brevibloc.

  • Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Brevibloc.

  • Use Brevibloc with extreme caution in CHILDREN. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.

  • PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: Brevibloc has been shown to cause harm to the fetus. If you become pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Brevibloc during pregnancy. It is unknown if Brevibloc is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Brevibloc, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.


Possible side effects of Brevibloc:


All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:



Agitation; confusion; dizziness; drowsiness; headache; nausea; sleepiness.



Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); change in skin color; chest pain; fainting; headache; mental/mood changes; pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site; seizures; sweating; unusually slow or irregular heartbeat.

Baza Clear Cream is used for:

Relieving and protecting minor burns, sunburn, windburn, scrapes, chapped or chafed skin or lips, and other minor noninfected skin irritations. It is also used to treat or prevent diaper rash. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.


Baza Clear Cream is a skin protectant. It works by protecting the skin, which helps it heal.


Do NOT use Baza Clear Cream if:


  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Baza Clear Cream

Before using Baza Clear Cream:

  • Apply Baza Clear Cream liberally to the affected areas and rub it in thoroughly. Apply as often as necessary.

  • If using Baza Clear Cream for diaper rash, change wet and soiled diapers promptly. Cleanse the diaper area and allow it to dry. Use with each diaper change, especially at bedtime when exposure to wet diapers may be prolonged.

  • Wash your hands immediately after using Baza Clear Cream, unless your hands are a part of the treated area.

  • If you miss taking a dose of Baza Clear Cream for 1 or more days, there is no cause for concern. If your doctor recommended that you use it, try to remember your dose every day.

Important safety information:


  • Do not use any other medicines or special cleansers on your skin unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.

  • Do not use on deep or puncture wounds, infections, or lacerations.

  • Do not get Baza Clear Cream in your eyes. If you get Baza Clear Cream in your eyes, rinse immediately with cool tap water.

  • Stop using Baza Clear Cream and ask a doctor if your condition worsens or does not improve within 7 days.

  • PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Baza Clear Cream, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Baza Clear Cream during pregnancy. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Baza Clear Cream, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
